Referee, Sydney Wednesday 10 November 1915 P 8 In the very first round Reeve struck an extremely low blow and was not cautioned. At other times he held onto Hardwick with his left hand while he pounded him with his right, many times to the kidney area. Hardwick boxed well at times but his blows lacked the sting of his opponent's.

NEW ZEALAND HERALD 15 SEPTEMBER 1915. Pooley was game but Hardwick was the faster man and better boxer. Hardwick worked the body often and hurt the Aucklander. A hard left in round two closed Pooley's right eye leaving him at a disadvantage. Body blows sent Pooley to the canvas twice in round six and three more in the seventh and final round.

Pro debut of Hardwick. Winner was expected to fight Ben Doyle for the vacant Australian heavyweight title according to noted scribe W.F.Corbett. O'Donnell went into the fight with a less than sound right fist that he had injured in his fight with McGoorty and reinjured against Ben Doyle. Hardwick took most of the early rounds, opening a bad cut over O'Donnell's left eye, and when O'Donnell finally came on in the second half of the fight it was too late.
