"Teddy Yarosz..dished out a fancy fistic trimming to..Tommy Gomez." By some accounts Yarosz won every round, only to be the victim of a hometown decision of the worst sort. The audience protested the decision long after it was announced. (see The Ring, September 1941, page 54)

Moore was dangerous all the way, and Yarosz was just smart enough to keep his chin in the clear." Moore was the aggressor, except for the last two rounds, when Teddy, feeling that Archie had spent his heaviest fire, took chances with Moore's Sunday punches. Yarosz was simply too clever for Moore at this stage of his career. However, Ray Arcel (Yarosz's trainer) said about Moore: "He'll be a great fighter in a year from now. All he needs is experience." Also, reported in the St.Louis Globe-Democrat (Jack Kincaid).

Results from the Pittsburgh Press. Conn staged a dramatic rally in the last three rounds to win the decision. The decision was very unpopular; most of the spectators thought that Yarosz had the edge on rounds won, on which basis the fight was judged. The official verdicts were 8-6-1 and 8-7 for Conn and 9-4-2 (Mastrean) for Yarosz. Regis Welsh of the Pittsburgh Press scored it 8-5-2 for Yarosz.
