While it is true that the referee called it a draw (on what authority under the circumstances is unclear, since the police had taken control of the fight out of his hands), McFadden was far ahead and the police stopped the fight to prevent Sweeney from suffering more punishment. This sort of ending is generally considering to be a stoppage of one fighter by another.
