The Pittsburgh Post said that it was the usual story when Greb and Houck met. Leo was on the defensive throughout, but had to absorb "terrific punishment" as Greb "with clever footwork continually got under Houck's guard."

The Pittsburgh Post reported that "this is the first time Houck has been defeated so decisively in his home town. The fight belonged to Harry every second." Greb peppered Houck until he was dazed. Houck was in top shape, but Greb tore through his guard and rendered Leo's vaunted left useless. Houck's beat punch was a right to the body in the fourth, but it was just a flash. Greb pitched and Houck caught.

The Boston Globe reported that Houck fought on the defensive and blocked many of Greb's punches. Harry wasn't too impressive, but Houck's tactics were mostly negative and Leo didn't throw many punches. The Pittsburgh Post reported that it was a rather slow fight and Greb won easily. His best round was the fifth, but he seemed not to push himself much.

Levinsky won the newspaper decision. (Bridgeport Telegram)
RRB 1969 edition has this as a win for Houck. However, that is incorrect because it was a newspaper decision, won by Levinsky according to the Philadelphia Record and Philadelphia Inquirer. Houck suffered a clean knock-down in the fourth round and this won the fight for Levinsky--Philadelphia Inquirer.

This fight is shown in Houck's record (1979 Ring Record Book and earlier editions), and in McCarron's record in the 1918 Andrews record book. No contemporary newspaper report has yet been seen. It would have been a newspaper decision, but is shown as a win in Houck's record. On that somewhat shaky grounds it is shown here as a win for Houck.

With the bouts on this card held under the strictest police superveillance, this fight was halted on the order of Police Captain McNicholas after Gavigan had gone down from three body punches followed by a right to the jaw. According to the Youngstown Vindicator Houck deserved the win as Gavigan was clearly unable to continue and it considered the official verdict a mere technicality.

The Boston Herald and Boston Journal report this to be one of the worst decisions in Boston's history, stating that it nearly caused a "riot". The following day the referee made an official statement that he felt Houck had won, but had "made a mistake" and thought he had pointed to Houck's corner when rendering his verdict, rather than Crouse's.
