Dixie Kid was knocked down in the 7th round.
"It was a hard-fought battle, with the Dixie Kid having a shade the better of it, but Temple stood up and fought back so manfully that, although the Dixie Kid was better than he, there were but few who begrudged him a draw." (Baltimore American)
According to Baltimore Sun, Dixie Kid had the better of seven rounds, three rounds for Temple, and the other five being even. Temple was about 15 pounds the heavier, according to both American and Sun.
"In the eighth round the Kid knocked out of joint a knuckle of his right hand." (Baltimore Sun)

"In this match A. Hereford, manager for Jackson, insisted that if both men were on their feet at the end, a draw must be given. Accordingly the referee announced a draw. Temple gave Jackson stiff punishment, knocking him down in the third round and constantly jarring him woth body blows. Jackson saved himself repeatedly by clinching." (Durango Democrat)
