"Tony Caponi, of Chicago, and Freddie Hicks, of Detroit, whose twelve-round bout here last night ended in a victory for Hicks because of an unintentional foul by Caponi, today appeared in Police Court, on the charge filed yesterday of being about to engage in a prize fight. The court decided however, that last night's bout was only a boxing contest. The bonds of which each put up last night will remain in the hands of the court for one year, to prevent the men from engaging in prize fights in Canada." (Indianapolis Star)

Caponi was "soft" for Langford, who in the seventh round "had Caponi in such bad shape, that the police stopped the fight for a time. The bout finally was allowed to the full ten rounds. Both the fighters were on their feet at the finish. After the seventh round, the negro only sparred and made a joke of it by making fancy dodges and swings." (Washington Post)
