Emanuel stalled and dodged to an "unimpressive" decision, it was reported. He "took no chances during the fight and merely kept jabbing Lohman in the face with his right. Lohman's wild full arm swings were pitiful." (UP)

"Walker plainly outclassed his willing and heavier opponent for the entire route. The fight started slow with the first two rounds almost even, then Walker started jabbing his left into Emanuel's face, supllementing hard body blows with his right for the remainder of the match. A hard right to the jaw sent Emanuel down for the count of nine just before he went down for the final count." (Associated Press)

Reported by day-after newspapers as being Manuel's 15th consecutive win. Emanuel did not fight George LaRocco in Chicago, September 22, 1927, as previously shown here. (LaRocco fought Billy Vidabeck that night according to the Chicago Tribune.)

Corbett had staggered Emanuel early in the 3rd round. Emanuel rallied at the bell and hit Corbett with a hard right to the jaw, which sent him sagging into the ropes. An angry fan threw a hat into the ring, which many felt, lead the referee Freddy Landers to stop the fight. Landers claimed he didn't hear the bell, and still felt justified for stopping the bout; irregardless of the hat being interpreted as a sponge.
