"Louis won sloppily against a bruising, mauling and rushing fighter who knew no fear or retreat." The New York Times
The only rounds in which the three agreed were the 3rd, 8th (both to Godoy) and the 14th (Louis). Lecron had it 10-4-1 in rounds for Louis. Godoy thought he was entitled to a draw but the New York Times reported the decision as "eminently fair" - its reporter giving it 10-5 to Louis, stating that other reporters had a similar result.

"The decision..though narrow, was loudly acclaimed by the public, and has been accepted by the Chilean press." Godoy was the aggressor but never had Loughran in any danger of a knockout. It was not a thrilling battle because Loughran concentrated on defence. Afterward, Loughran expressed surprise at not receiving the decision, and said he won more easily than earlier, in the two Buenos Aires fights between the two men. The source of the clipping is not given, but the reporter gave Godoy rounds one, two, four, six, seven, and eight, the fifth was even, and Loughran took rounds three, nine, and ten. This fight was stated to be a 10-rounder, not twelve as shown here previously.
