Nelson led in the earlier rounds, but suffered a cut on his temple in the eixth round and bled steadily after that. Finally, in round ten, Nelson went to the canvas and his corner threw in the sponge. In July, Logan was transferred to Hawaii, having spent 15 months in the Philippines, with the 7th Calvary. From the Cablenews-American, Manila.

For the Orient heavyweight title
Lewis "opened up with a whirlwind attack, but slowed down after a few rounds. As Lewis slowed down, Logan became the aggressor and set a pace which soon beat down the guard of Lewis..In the eighth and ninth rounds Logan had his opponent almost at his mercy." Halfway through the 9th, Logan landed a right to the jaw which left Lewis too dazed to defend himself and the fight was stopped. (From the Cablenews-American, Manila.)

Logan had much the better of this fight and the decision was very unpopular with everyone. Logan landed five punches to every one for McIlwain and had a big advantage in the infighting.
