"Edwards handed Bux the worst licking that he had ever received. Although the Iron Man was never off his feet, he was battered badly, and suffered eyecuts that rendered him nearly helpless by the time that the fight was halted. Edwards was as effective at long range as he had already proved to be at infighting. He showed a clever defense against Bux's attacks." Edwards returned to Australia on August 27. The Manila Daily Bulletin said that this was "the most sensational and the most interesting fight ever witnessed in a Manila ring." Cabanela won the 1st, 5th, and 7th rounds, with the seventh being by far his best, as he cut Edwards's eye and hurt him with a terrific body punch. But Edwards won all the other rounds from the lighter man,and "pounded Cabanela all over the ring in round ten and had him at his mercy when the final bell rang."

KO3/10
Olympic Stadium, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines
Duarte tried very hard but, even with a huge weight-advantage, he was no match for the Welsh-Australian bomber. Edwards landed vicious one-twos to the body, and finally two rights to the head, the first opening up a bad cut and the seoond sending Duarte to his knees, where he was counted out. There was only one professional fight on the program, which was completed by eight 4-round amateur affairs. From the Manila Daily Bulletin.

Olympic Stadium, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines
From the Manila Daily Bulletin. This was the main event of the first program held at the Olympic Stadium, and Edwards's Australian debut. "From the sound of the (opening) gong, Edwards tore in like a tenacious bulldog, swinging both hands all the time." Flores took a lot of punishment, but fought gamely. The description of the fight indicates that Edwards fought in the style of Henry Armstrong, but punched cleanly, and "Never once did he cut loose a wild haymaker swing."
