Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
I haven't seen it yet, but will as soon as possible.
Looks like most media people scored it close with GGG winning.
What did you think?

GGG by a few.....his jab gave him the edge for me
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
The knockdown won it, very close fight. If it gives de la Hoya confidence to get Alvarez in the ring then get the fight made.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
I had Jacobs winning. 114-113
GGG just could not find him.
I was not expecting to see Jacobs outbox GGG and not getting caught badly in the whole fight.
The KD was not that bad. Jacobs was not badly hurt.
Once again shows that you cannot win against the more marketable guy on points

Gonzalez lost on points as the A-side one fight before, and you had Jacobs up by just a single pointHeretic wrote:I had Jacobs winning. 114-113

I haven't watched the Gonzales fight yet. Good to hear that my pessimistic take on things is not always accurate.crusader wrote:Gonzalez lost on points as the A-side one fight before, and you had Jacobs up by just one pointHeretic wrote:I had Jacobs winning. 114-113

I had Jacobs ahead on one point. It was a close fight. I usually tend to score more rounds to the fighter going forward. I also was really rooting for GGG in this fight. Especially after Jacobs skipped the second day weighing. He clearly was aiming for weight advantage and was looking huge compared to GGG. With all my bias here I still had Jacobs winning so I guess there is some score cards out there with even bigger numbers for Jacobs.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
If someone has an advantage it's usually the more marketable guy, but that doesnt mean the opponent cant get a decision.
The scores looked about right to me. I can definitely see a case for Danny, but the crying of robbery seems odd; jabs count, and flurries dont score just because theyre flashy.

No one here ever says "well they officials dissagree, and that's okay", if they ever disagree, no mtter how flimsy the justifcation, they always scream robbery and corruption.crusader wrote:If someone has an advantage it's usually the more marketable guy, but that doesnt mean the opponent cant get a decision.

For the record I thought Jacobs won it, was better for most of most of the round to me.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
Got to watch the fight finally.. GGG got a gift, Jacobs deserved the win, bad decision.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
I agree...Jacobs had to be a little bit more aggressive to win. His jab has to be improved.Keko wrote:Close but 114:113 I had Golovkin .

I just watched the fight, scored it 115-112 for Golovkin.
It was a fair decision.
John Rawling's commentary was terrible.

That's a shocker.NateJR wrote:Got to watch the fight finally.. GGG got a gift, Jacobs deserved the win, bad decision.

Right decision
Golovkin out worked and out boxed Jacobs

Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
i had jacobs winning but i didn't score the fights. After looking at the compubox number jacobs had the advantage in power shots landing 8 round out of 12.But GGG totally dominated the jabs 12 ROUND OUT OF 12.
like i said in another thread i got impressed by the power shots more than the jabs.
fair decision anyway......

Jacobs didn't win. Just didn't land enough to win. He deserves a huge credit for lasting 12 rounds and standing his ground, but he needed to do more to win.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
+1 I had Golovkin 7 rounds up after 9 (i scored the 2nd 10-10) Barry Jones had Jacobs up. 116-112 for me.Freedom2013 wrote:I just watched the fight, scored it 115-112 for Golovkin.

Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
For the record here's the official scoresheet :

Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
Had Golovkin winning 114-113. Fight was close, but I thought he was the winner. If somebody wanted to say Jacobs won 114-113, I'd accept that, though think it was wrong. As well ass 115-112 G3 is an acceptable score to have. The knockdown killed Danny because I can't see 7 rounds to give him. G3 should have fought with a little more aggression, but still did enough to win.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
I had Jacobs by a point
but unlike others I wouldn't scream robbery because the cards didn't agree with mine in a close fight that could have gone either way
In fact it's far more likely, when every poll point to a Golovkin win, the punch stats point to a Golovkin win, the judges called it a Golovkin win and most of the ring side "experts" called it a Golovkin win, that maybe....just maybe, Davie was wrong

Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
Compu-Box had Golovkin landing 231 of 615 punches for a connect percentage of 38, and Jacobs landing 175 of 541 punches for a connect percentage of 32.
Re: Who did you have winning, Jacobs or Golovkin?
They also had GGG landing more jabs in every round, which matches what I saw. Jabs don't get oohs and ahhs though...
