Great fight. But I think the great Carmen Basilio had something extra: Lots of heart and determination and was better skilled. One of the top 50 greatest fighters in my book pound per pound will wilt the tough punching Mexican Pipino Cuevas by UD in 15.

Outside the greats Evander Holyfield and Joe Frazier, when it comes to HEART, WILL AND DETERMINATION, Basilio might come third all time in that department.

Camen by KO. Pipino was not as tough or skilled as Tony DeMarco, he goes out earlier than Tony did.

I'd take Carmen to out box and then outfight and stop Pipino Cuevas. Basilio is one my all time favourite fighters. Basilio KO 6.

Basilio is the better fighter definitely and though he has a great chin I wouldn't be shocked if Cuevas stopped him

In addition to his tremendous heart and durability, Carmen Basilio had very underrated skills, much like Rocky Marciano and Jake LaMotta. As a result, I think that Basilio would ruin Pipino Cuevas, who had a tremendous left-hook, but was very limited in the skill department and simply couldn't cope with great fighters.

He had a tremendous physique as well, he looked very strong at welterweight. Great fighter. How he held his own against sugar Ray with that eye I'll never know.

I seen a show on ESPN where Carmen and Angelo Dundee said Basilio had arthritis in his hands well before he won the title. Some feat.

I don't see Carmen stopping him, but I think he'd win a wide decision. Pipino was too wide, Carmen would smother him.
