I need to get caught up with watching some of these myself

The first Moore vs Durelle fight is essential viewing. Most will likely have seen it but if you haven't.... then do! I'll stick that in the supplementary bouts

While looking for Moore fights I stumbled across one which I haven't seen before, by the scoring I'm guessing we'll see Archie in dominant form
Archie Moore vs Jimmy Slade. Hopefully most won't have seen this

The 1st Durelle fight is in incredible, Moore seemed to be flat on his back at 8 on one of the knockdowns yet still managed to make it up, as you said essential viewing, the rematch is class too

I just watched Moore's fight with Clay on Saturday, even by Archie's standards he was old then, he was stopped in 4 after being put down 3 times and never fought again

I toyed with his heavyweight title challenges, particularly the Marciano bout as it was a fantastic effort by Archie.
But I figured people would have seen those and wanted to show Archie kicking ass :yay:

I watched the Bivins and Johnston footage recently too. Would love to see that era of LHW's matched up with the likes of Kovalev or Ward today.

Moore vs Ward would have been intruiging, but perhaps more one for close analysis and discussion on here, than a Saturday fight night drinking with the lads round

The Jimmy Slade fight is nothing spectacular, good solid win for Archie, well ahead and hardly lost a round. Had him looking hurt a couple times but probably not looking like stopping him.

Archie looks so relaxed in the ring, like he belongs there, I don't think I've watched someone look so at home in a boxing ring.
Even watching him taking a bit of a shellacking in the latter stages of the Marciano bout he never looks panicked and goes about his work at his own pace.
The down side to that is in a fight like the Slade one when he's comfortably ahead, he doesn't often put the foot on the accelerator and find another gear.
He knows he has the skills to keep winning rounds and the power to hurt people without loading up on punches, so it can all seem a little one paced
But I still enjoy watching his style in the ring

As is so often the case, I make a statement then I'm instantly proven wrong
"Archie can look so one paced"

Then I watch a 43 year old Archie come out in the second Durelle fight like a man possessed.
Quick moving, jerky feints with his hands, fluid and aggressive from the off. He set a high work rate and let go some big shots early determined to not have a repeat of the first fight and finished Durelle in style
