Have Any Pros or Former Pros Been Asked To Lose?
I know this is a bit like the first rule of Fight Club, but.....
Any of you guys ever been asked to lose, take a dive, take it easy or been offered money?

well El Maachii apparantly has been asked early in his career , read that on here when his name was first being banded about .
Of course as a journeyman the guys doing that know that in general even if its a fight they can win they usually wont for fear of not getting the job next time , they have bills to pay like anyone else , but youll be unlikely to hear of many of them being Told to lose i reckon , just a kind of unwritten rule , but certain circumstances will allow the "opponent " a bit of room if he does win , such as an accidental k.o .lol . or i could be way off the mark .

Admit it - there were certain fights you were asked to win and you just couldn't bring yourself to do it

Too charitable I reckon
Re: Have Any Pros or Former Pros Been Asked To Lose?
If the matching is correct you would not need to pay someone to dive.
I was never asked and don't know anyone that was

Not sure about boxers being paid to dive, but I guess it's harder to prove a doctor being paid to dive in.

Because he had Khan in such trouble, didn't he?
Hasn't that ridiculous train hit the buffers yet? It hardly was to Khan's advantage to rob him of a decent finish

Aye. I heard the doctor was also one of the driving forces behind 9/11 too.grannyman wrote:

I know of a journeyman who was fighting away who got offered an additional £600 to go down and stay down in a certain round. Apparently these werent the sorts of guys you wanted to say no to. For obvious reasons i won't name him

I would refer you to section A http://www.epa.org.uk/wrules.phpmrpedigree wrote:I was paid to lose a pub pool match once ...does that count ??
Now I want you to write 'I must not lose a pool game on purpose', 100 times on the board.
