Crackin scrap. Missed first few rounds inc. the knockdowns but from what I seen Dirrell out faught DeGale. I thought James came on strong to win 11 & 12.

Take that win and run with it, I can't imagine they'd be keen on a rematch, Dirrell is a tough opponent to beat.

DeGale was at least closer to legitmately beating Dirrel as Froch was. I actually thought DeGale by 1-2 was about right.

Whoever the poster was who said Dirrell was not half the fighter he was - good call!

I had degale by two aswell so good scoring. The Canadian was way wide but I think some of the rounds I gave to dirrell you could argue were down to work rate and degale probably edged him in decent shots landed.

I had D.G 114-113, but different to Jim Watt (swapped scores in rounds 5 and 11). Well done Chunky :yay:

The Canadian judge was off his head.

Between rounds, McDonnell shouldn't talk, he should just give D.G. a kick in the arse. He almost gave it away, but the last round was key.

Delighted for him.

he had it won easy. put dirrell down twice, dominated him, was quicker and landed the much bigger punches.

you are all so negative.

Haha, if someone is on back foot and not throwing anything, it's difficult to score the round for them

Howard Foster and the American judge had it spot on, De Gale pulled it out of the fire in the last two rounds. Brilliant win but strangely listless performance from rounds 4-10.

Whose fcking idea is to put a fight after the main event. I cant focus on that after the DeGale win high. Bloody PBC.

I've been a massive fan of De Gale since his am days. I'm also realistic though. I don't always agree with Watt but rounds 7-10, he hit the nail on the head when he said that while Dirrell wasn't doing brilliantly, De Gale wasn't do enough to win the rounds. He wasn't throwing enough, and was getting caught by the odd shot in each Dirrell combination. Not by the majority of shots, but by more shots than he was throwing himself at the time. Had he had rounds like he managed at 11 and 12 between 7-10, the Canadian wouldn't have been far off, but he didn't.

Who cares, chunky is champ :yay:

What was your scorecard then?

I had it 115-113 DeGale. Most people seem to have it for DeGale by 1 or 2.

I bet on/picked Degale after loads of thought and tried to score it as neutrally as possible and had Degale by 3. He did let Andre back in during the mid rounds after an amazing start but dug deep in the last couple to secure it. Well done James.

Funny to hear the Sky guys complain about am early stoppage. They are right, it was awful, but we get worse ones regularly here.

Absolute bullshit stoppage in Baker v Rodriguez. Classic bullshit. I wonder who had bank on Rodriguez in 3?

Huge credit to Degale, ambushed him proper in the second round - was a little bit too cagey in the later rounds but still sealed the win.

Dirrell is more effective being booed from the outside of the ropes, it's ugly but effective - whereas taking centre ring and trying to fight it out seemed to make him a bit more ordinary.

I thought his feet where very slow and nowhere near as fast as his hands tonight. Degale made it very awkward for Dirrell tonight, who seemed very conventional. I thought he'd try and leave it in the ring in the last round, but was pretty impotent.

Degale is a legit world champion after tonight, thoroughly pleased for him.
