Obviously anybody posting on a Boxing forum cares. In general it's a niche sport and it always will be here. The PBC was a death blow.gilgamesh wrote:I care about All Boxing, and I'm American. Did you record this off your chest tape from the mid 80s?Cutman Scabbers wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He's even more open when he sticks his chin in the air and jabs the body. Was I the only one who saw Fury just begging, BEGGING to eat a gigantic overhand right (a la Lewis/Rahman 1)? If Fury doesn't get his hands up, he'll be flat on his ass. I just think Fury is not in Wlad's league in regards to skill and power. It's just a matter of Wlad actually caring enough (a la Lewis/Rahman 2).

This is a very Ameri-centric view Caldo. And I agree that the world does revolve around America, as it should. But I live in my own bubble & understand some people think differently, or to be more precise; they think wrong/incorrectly. But in this case they have a point. America simply is not the Mecca of boxing anymore. American boxing fans have very little interest in foreign boxers for the most part, particularly Eastern Europeans. It is silly to think that a champion should fight in the States for less money and little fanfare when he could fight in his hometown to adulation of many screaming fans. I think the Klitschkos knew they could not win us over and they decided it was not worth the effort. I have no problem with that.
I disagree that the world revolves around America anymore. However, you make a perfectly valid argument about Wlad not fighting in the US. He's just not the popular there and he had a hard enough time trying to sell a marquee fight even in Germany. I'm sure some of you remember this but, while Mike Tyson was pwning the division back in the 80's, people even started losing interest in Tyson fights. In fact, Jim Lampley alluded to this in the pre-fight commentary to Tyson-Douglas, admitting that HBO and Don King were moving fights with lesser opponents to Japan as an experiment to see if they'd be more willing to buy Tyson fights with less-interesting opponents.

The average sports fan now is drawn more to team sports no doubt for socio-psychological reasons like wanting to belong and not stand out. The more anti-social elements are drawn to individual sports. Many of the latter are older and dying out. All part of the evolution of society towards the gradual Big Brother syndrome where people are isolated from each other but made to believe they are part of the great mass. Us versus Them.
Eventually with advances in VR tech the billion dollar stadiums and arenas will be empty and everyone will be plugged in to virtual stadiums with millions of others. Those who can afford it any way. The rest of the vast horde of unemployed and working poor will be left to fend for themselves.
Oh, and a big fat Tyson Fury will lose to a barely moving, suddenly aging Klitschko in what will be considered the worst heavyweight title fight since the last Fury-Klitschko tango.

I highly suspect Wladimir will be motivated and Fury won't be able to keep his weight and focus down to where he had it in the first fight.Cap wrote:The average sports fan now is drawn more to team sports no doubt for socio-psychological reasons like wanting to belong and not stand out. All Wladimir needs to do is let his hands go and his natural power and Fury's punch resistance will determine the rest.
I doubt Fury got the whiskers to take anything close to Wlad's right hand or hook, punches Wladimir inexplicitly the very few of until it was too late.
Wladimir via TKO or TKO, inside six rounds

I think Wlad might actually just throw some punches and look like he did against Pulev.
But then I think the opposite and just don't know.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II
In the previous fight, it's true that Klitschko never let go his hands, but it also seemed that Fury was the better boxer: better footwork, more variety of shots, better head movement... I think that Tyson will win again.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II
I just dropped some money on Wlad by KO.
Tyson was able to catch Wlad off guard last time. He fought with unexpected style and was able to execute it perfectly. Wlad could not adjust during that fight. Hard to shake off style one has been using for the last 10 years.
I think the next fight will be totally different. Wlad is smart he will be prepared this time. I think he will KO Fury. Or get blown out himself. Wlad is easily the bigger puncher so I expect him to win.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II
Wlad will come adjusted for Tyson's 'style' but Fury' never used that style before and seems to do something different for almost every fight now.
I've been following all the videos and despite the sightings at raves, the erratic behaviour, the weird statements, the Fury's as a team seem pretty focused and confident. They're putting muscle on him for this fight. There's going to be a reason. They're training to do something else. Wlad's not going to fight the same, but neither is Tyson.
I've got Fury here.

Yeah, I think Fury's going to be supremely confident going in, he knows he's got his number, and he's going to bust him up this time.
Wlad will again be intimidated and not let his hands go.

fury had the better of all exchanges last time anyway.

Yeah they're both better spoilers than aggressors so pretty much everything was shut down fairly quick.

Oh God! My EYES!
July 9th would be epic if Joshua hang glided into the ring and squashed them both.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II
I'm expecting almost the exact same fight as the first time. Maybe closer to the eyes but mitigated by it being in England - Fury wins another decision. I just don't think it's within Wlad to totally reinvent himself after a decade of employing a style that ensure he doesn't get hit. He's got way way too much going for him in his advanced age to take unnecessary risks. Gobs of money. Smokin hot wife. Kids. The man has other interests outside of boxing. He's a really smart guy. Really smart, rich guys who are in the twilight of their career don't take stupid chances. Wlad isn't Roy Jones. He has a brain. And I don't just mean book smarts. He actually cares about his own personal well being.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II
There's a slim chance we'll see a different performance, don't want to call it a fight because the first one wasn't. Maybe one or the other will throw a real punch and muss the other's makeup enough so the referee stops it. ![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)
