17 November (106lbs) Albert Cocksedge w pts 15 Frank Morcombe, Cosmopolitan Club, Marylebone, London, England. Despite there being no English title billing the fact that it was made at 106lbs would have seen Morcombe’s claim at the weight on the line and both boys went for it early on. While there were no knockdowns it was nip and tuck all the way with little between them coming into the final round and it was then that Cocksedge gained a narrow advantage to take the decision.
On 27 January 1905 at The Baths, Coventry, however, Cocksedge lost in the final of an English championship belt competition when kayoed in the first round by Johnny Hughes. Joining Hughes among the claimants were Dave Job, Jack Wise and Young Bill Smith (February 1905) and Jack Wren (April 1905), while Jack Calder challenged all England to decide the championship in June 1905.
