1879-05-26 (160lbs+) Denny Harrington w disq 2 (finish) Florrie Barnett, Bermondsey Street Railway Arches, The Borough, London, England. Challenging Harrington (163) for the English middleweight title, Barnett (161) was disqualified at 2.10 of the second round when his seconds entered the ring to tend to his pre-fight dislocated right shoulder. From the onset Harrington had forced the fighting and generally got the better of the exchanges despite having his right eye split open in the first round. Setting about his man with both hands in the second session, Harrington eventually terminated matters when landing a swinging left followed by a heavy right to Barnett’s jaw that sent him crashing out of the contest.
