1882-05-16 (140lbs) Charlie Norton w co 2 (finish) Jim Frawley, Novelty Theatre, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: George Rooke. Contested under London Rules in small hand gloves, Norton (136) went straight to work, banging in punches from all angles before flooring Frawley (139) with a tremendous right to the body. With just five minutes on the clock, when Frawley failed to respond to the referee he was counted out.

Not much more is known about Norton, but he appears to stick mainly to exhibitions and shortened contests before finally retiring in 1896.

Over in England, George Say won a ten-stone professional competition when outpointing Dick Roberts over four rounds at the West End School of Arms, Newman Street, Westminster, London on 25 September 1882.
