1890-01-13 (114lbs) Nunc Wallace w co 15 (finish) George Camp, Ormonde Club, Walworth, London, England. Billed for the English 114lbs title, and contested in front of a limited audience of just 15 people, Camp was floored by a left-hand drive to the throat in the opening round. Despite slipping over, Wallace (113) had the advantage at the end of the session. From then on, Wallace, going from head to body was always in control, and though Camp fought desperately at times he continued to be staggered by heavy punches, slipping down several times. Occasionally, Wallace was told by his corner to finish it but he was happy to carry on as he was. Even when Wallace slipped down in the 13th, Camp, cut over both eyes, was too tired to take advantage. In the 14th, after Camp was floored three times it seemed to be all over, but he came back for a minute or so in the 15th before being dropped for the full count following a thundering right-left to the jaw. Two days later the winner challenged the world.
