1891-12-14 (126lbs) Bill Corbett w co 25 (finish) Harry Greenfield, Albany Club, Islington, London, England. Referee: George Vize. Made at 126lbs, give or take two pounds, up until the 20th round there was very little in it despite Greenfield (122) being knocked on his haunches in the 17th. Having cut Corbett (122) over the left eye in the 20th, Greenfield then dropped his man with a right to the jaw but failed to follow up his advantage. By the 24th, with Corbett right back in the fight, by the end of the session he was hitting Greenfield at will. When Greenfield came out for the 25th it was clearly seen that his left hand had gone, and although he was as game as a pebble after taking some heavy punishment in the lower regions he was sent down to be counted out. Regardless of there being no title billing, Corbett claimed the English 122lbs championship following his win.
A day later in Melbourne, Australia, Young Griffo successfully defended his 126lbs Australian featherweight title claim with an eight-round points win over Billy Williams at the Crystal Palace, Richmond. This fight was not given world title billing as it was contested over too short a distance.
