1896-03-17 (126lbs) George Dixon w rtd 7 (15) Jerry Marshall, Prescott AC, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Referee: Jimmy Colville. Dixon (123½) successfully defended his American 126lbs title claim after Marshall (126) was eventually forced to retire following a leg injury received in the fifth round. It had always been Dixon’s fight, regardless of the injury, and Marshall was forced to take severe punishment throughout.
