1899-04-07 (126lbs) Tommy White drew 20 Kid Goulette, Auditorium Theatre, Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The Evening Scimitar reported the match to be at 126lbs, with the world champion at the weight expected to make 124lbs and Goulette likewise. It was give and take throughout, White having the left jab and all-round generalship, while Goulette, who fell to the floor three times after rushing in, was clearly the stronger.

Meanwhile, technically risking his claim at 126lbs, in a match made at 122lbs Oscar Gardner beat Billy O’Donnell on a sixth-round disqualification at the Lenox AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York on 11 April.
