1899-09-25 (170lbs) Joe Choynski w co 7 (20) Jim Hall, Nonpareil AC, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Mr Rucker. Again advertised for the title, this time at 170lbs, Choynski (160) allowed Hall (168) to take the first two rounds before opening up in the third. Scoring with accurate lefts and rights Choynski soon had the measure of Hall, and with about half a minute of the session remaining the Australian was sent to the boards to be counted out.
On 6 October, at the Fort Dearborn AC, Chicago, Illinois, Choynski drew over six rounds with Charles Kid McCoy, who was said to weigh in the region of 170lbs. Not known if Choynski’s title claim was at risk, the contest was called a draw due to a pre-fight agreement.
