1899-11-24 (106lbs) Matt Precious w rsc 20 Jim Lee, Gymnastic Club, Stalybridge, England. Referee: George Dunning. Billed for the English 106lbs title, £100-a-side, and a £60 purse, it was very even up until the 17th round despite being contested on hard lines. With Lee tiring rapidly, he was smashed down by a punch to the jaw before being saved by the bell. Coming out for the 18th with both eyes almost closed and having been attacked unmercifully by Precious, Lee was left in a defenceless state on the ropes halfway through the 20th. At that juncture, the referee awarded the contest to Precious, who was almost unmarked.
