1899-12-21 (110lbs) Jack Walker w rsc 9 (20) Fred Herring, New Adelphi Theatre, The Strand, London, England. Referee: Eugene Corri. Billed for the English 110lbs title, Herring (109), who had won the ABA bantamweight title in 1898, was well beaten by Walker (107¾) despite being in the frame at the end of the sixth. By this time Walker was coming good, and in the ninth he powered into Herring with both hands, battering him down immediately prior to the bell. Although Herring got up to walk back to his corner, with him still being weak and distressed the referee immediately awarded the fight to Walker by stoppage.
On 6 August 1900, Jack Fitzpatrick challenged all England at 110lbs, being followed by Jack Guyon (September 1900), Jim Denhart (October 1901), Owen Moran and Jim Kenrick (January 1902), Albert Gould (April 1902) and George Spooney (August 1902).
