1901-11-01 (170lbs) Marvin Hart w co 10 (20) Jack Beauscholte, Empire AC, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Referee: George Siler. Although articled at catchweights both men were said to be inside 170lbs, thus putting Hart’s claim at risk, and after five rounds Beauscholte had given such a great showing that even money was being offered on him scoring a knockout win. It had been hammer and tongs all the way, but by the seventh Hart was beginning to force matters. In the eighth Beauscholte was being pummelled in his own corner before sinking to the boards with Hart on top of him. When the action continued, with both men fighting like madmen, Beauscholte stood his ground and partly closed Hart’s left eye before a short hook to the point of his jaw in the tenth sent him down to be counted out. At that stage of the fight both fighters were so weak they could barely stand up.
