1901-12-06 (128lbs) Harry Lyons drew 20 Eddie Lenny, Eureka AC, Germania Maennerchor Hall, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Referee: George Mantz. Both men made 126lbs for this one, thus putting Lyons’ 128lbs American title claim at risk. The taller Lyons had agreed to put his opponent out inside 20 rounds, but with the clever Lenny being too cute for that to happen there was never much between them. From start to finish it was a succession of left leads that were either blocked or missed the target, and both men finished almost as fresh as when they began. The most significant punches of the fight came in the 20th, Lenny being forced to hang on until the bell after taking a cracking right to the jaw followed by a right uppercut to the neck.
