1902-06-24 (138lbs) Frank Erne w co 7 (15) Jim Maloney, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Following his defeat at the hands of Joe Gans at 135lbs, Erne laid claim to the ‘white’ lightweight title. This one, however, was billed for the world 138lbs title. Erne (136½) did practically all the leading against Maloney (138), who went down several times without being struck before being knocked out by a left to the jaw. Maloney had come in as a late substitute for Pat Daly.
