1902-11-03 (140lbs) Jack Goldswain w co 6 (10) Charley Evans, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Made at 140lbs, Goldswain (138¾) was too good for Evans (139), and after having the latter down in the fifth round for ‘nine’ he moved swiftly in the sixth to finish matters. The session had only just begun when Goldswain put his rival down again before a left under the heart put paid to any chance of recovery that Evans might have hoped for when he was dropped for the full count.

Laying claim to the English title at the weight on his victory, Goldswain outpointed Tom Edmunds over three rounds at Olympia, Kensington, London, on 31 December 1903 to win a 140lbs championship competition.
