1904-03-25 (130lbs) Jimmy Britt w pts 20 Young Corbett, Woodward’s Pavilion, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Ed Graney. Billed for the world 130lbs title, Britt proved to be Corbett’s master. It was Britt’s left hand that was the difference between them, and although there were no knockdowns Corbett was almost out on at least three occasions. Reported to be one of the fiercest fights seen for many a day, with both men bleeding badly, Britt went for Corbett in the last four rounds to make sure that the verdict would be his when completely outscoring and outpunching the latter.

Britt, who was also the claimant of the ‘white’ 133lbs championship, was not interested in the 130lbs title, moving on immediately, while Corbett was never a major force again.
