1905-03-24 (158lbs) Philadelphia Jack O'Brien w disq 2 (20) Young Peter Jackson, 4th Regiment Armory, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Referee: James O’Hara. With the match articled at 158lbs, and the men contracted to break cleanly, after O’Brien was put down by a right to the jaw by Jackson (152) in the second round he appeared to have been knocked out. Unfortunately for Jackson he was disqualified on the grounds that he delivered the blow when the referee had been standing between the two men while trying to prise them apart and that ‘break’ had been called. In the aftermath, officials stated that not only was Jackson told to break, but he had actually thrown the punch when O’Brien was obscured by the referee.
