1915-07-31 (160lbs) Les Darcy w rsc 15 (20) Eddie McGoorty, Baker’s Stadium, Sydney, Australia. Referee: Harold Baker. Making his second defence of the Australian version of the 160lbs title, Darcy (159¼) showed remarkable skill for one so young in blocking the American’s best efforts early on before being caught by a tremendous left hook to the jaw in the sixth. While McGoorty (159½) took the next few sessions on sheer aggression he could not put Darcy down, and by the 12th the latter was well in control of his tiring opponent. Driving forward Darcy would not be denied, sending McGoorty to the floor three times by vicious right hands to the head in the 15th prior to the ringside police inspector advising the referee to call it off as the challenger was struggling to get to his feet.
