1987-11-27 Donny Lalonde w rsc 2 (12) Eddie Davis, National Stadium, Port of Spain, Trinidad - WBC. Referee: Ismael Quinones-Falu. Contesting the title vacated by Thomas Hearns, Davis (173) made a bright start before being hammered to the floor by a right after Lalonde (173¼) had set him up with the jab. Back in action the moment the mandatory ‘eight’ count had been completed, Davis was dropped again right at the end of the first round. Coming out shakily for the second Davis was soon at the mercy of Lalonde, who had actually been cut on the left eye in the opening session, and when another big right had sent him crashing to the floor the referee called the fight off after just 22 seconds had elapsed.
