1990-08-11 Pernell Whitaker w co 1 Juan Nazario, Caesar’s Palace, Lake Tahoe, Stateline, Nevada, USA - IBF/WBA/WBC. Referee: Mills Lane. Making his normal cautious start in this battle for three title belts, Whitaker (135) showed plenty of movement as he sized Nazario (135) up until getting into his stride towards the end of the opening round. Nobody was prepared for what came next. As Whitaker and Nazario exchanged southpaw jabs, the former smashed in a left over the top which saw the WBA champion crumple to the floor almost in delayed action to be counted out with one second of the session remaining.
