Meeting the headstrong Lawas (102½) blow for blow, Choi (105) was the most accurate of the pair, with solid combinations to head and body paving the way. Although the Filipino came out steaming in the third the champion hit back with some good blows of his own, and a solid right to the ribcage sent Lawas crashing to the canvas, in some pain, to be counted out on the 2.59 mark.
