1992-09-25 Giovanni Parisi w rsc 10 Francisco Javier Altamirano, Football Stadium, Voghera, Italy - WBO. Referee: Ismael Quinones-Falu. Fighting for the right to become the successor to Dingaan Thobela, Parisi (133½) made a terrible start when he was floored twice from heavy rights to the jaw in the opening round after Altamirano (134) had initially got to him with hooks to the head and body. The fight turned in the second when the switch-hitting Parisi badly wobbled the Mexican, and by the fourth he had begun to dominate. After a short right to the head dropped Altamirano for ‘three’ in the fifth, Parisi really turned it on as he belted his man repeatedly. On several occasions it seemed to be just a matter of time. The end finally arrived in the tenth when Altamirano missed with a solid jab and was nailed by a countering right to the jaw which dropped him for ‘six’. He was then rescued by the referee following the mandatory ‘eight’, 25 seconds into the session.
