1993-01-16 Julio Cesar Borboa w rsc 12 Robert Quiroga, Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio, Texas, USA - IBF. Referee: Robert Gonzalez. Although Quiroga (115) was aggressive and as game as ever, he was generally outpunched by Borboa (115), who was very effective with the left hand and combinations to head and body which led to the champion being badly cut over both eyes. Desperate to keep his title Quiroga kept going, but in the final third of the contest it had become apparent that he would need a miracle to turn things around, and after being staggered in the last round the referee called it off with just 23 seconds remaining.
