1995-04-08 Bruce Seldon w rsc 7 Tony Tucker, Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Mills Lane. In a fight for the vacant title, Seldon (236) produced his best-ever form against the favoured Tucker (243) despite carrying a bicep injury that affected his lead-up to the fight. Both men opened fast with solid punches, and although Seldon was badly hurt in the second round by the third Tucker’s face was becoming a mess, his left eye having been damaged earlier. With Seldon’s work now the snappier, he took the next two sessions with accurate jabs paving the way for long rights to the body. Although Tucker won the sixth, after Seldon stormed through to take the seventh the former was pulled out of the contest during the interval by the referee on the advice of the doctor. Tucker, whose left eye was closed, had also suffered a broken nose.
