1999-02-20 Terron Millett w rsc 5 Vince Phillips, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - IBF. Referee: Jim Santa. Suffering serious weight problems that obviously weakened him, the champion, who was reported to have taken off 47 pounds in seven weeks, appeared to be in trouble right from the opening bell as Millett (140) set a very fast pace. Although bewildered by Millett’s left jab, Phillips (140) actually dropped his man with a right-hand counter in the second round, only for it to be ruled a slip. In the third Phillips was floored by a right hand just as the bell sounded, and in the fourth he was put down twice again before being under pressure in the fifth prior to being rescued by the referee on the 1.58 mark after he had been sent reeling across the ring by two big lefts.
