26 June (108lbs) Tibby Watson w rtd 9 (15) Frank Morcombe, Cosmopolitan Gym, Plymouth, England. Although there were no weights given both were said to be inside 108lbs, thus putting Watson’s claim at risk. The fight started fast and there was some very hot work according to the Western Daily Mercury report. The paper went on to say that Watson repeatedly played on Morcombe’s ribs, while the latter got home with lefts and rights to the head. However, at the end of round nine Morcombe pulled out, stating that was feeling the effects of an operation he had recently undergone for appendicitis.

As at 11 February 1909 the 108lbs weight class belonged to the new flyweight division, and Watson went on to meet Johnny Coulon at 110lbs.
