1878-09-18 (132lbs) Soldier Robinson w rtd 16 (finish) Tom Stockley, Jack Baldock’s East London Gym, Shadwell, London, England. Referee: Robert Watson. Although not billed as a championship fight, Robinson claimed the 132lbs title on winning. This was the second meeting between the pair and Robinson (132) was out in front before dropping Stockley (131) twice in the 16th, the second occasion seeing the latter saved by the bell. Having hit his head heavily on the boards, Stockley was in no condition to continue and was retired during the interval.

Prior to the next finish fight, Birmingham’s Pat Perry, mainly a bare-knuckle fighter, was dishing out challenges from September 1879, seemingly with no takers.
