1887-08-29 (156lbs) Bill Chesterfield Goode w rtd 15 (finish) Tom Lees, Paradise Street School of Arms, Lambeth, London, England. Although billed for the English 156lbs championship, with Lees (155) not eligible it was the Imperial British Empire title that he and Goode (152) should have been contesting. Forcing the fight from the start, Goode, going for the body, looked the stronger man and by the ninth round his superior strength began to tell. In the 15th a right to the jaw almost knocked Lees out and following up his advantage Goode dropped his man again. From then on Lees became the receiver general and at the end of the session he was retired.
