1887-10-05 (108lbs) George Camp w co 23 (finish) Con Donovan, London, England
5 October (108lbs) George Camp w co 23 (finish) Con Donovan, London, England. Billed for the English 108lbs title, having won the opening five rounds Camp (108) was cut over the left eye before coming back hard to build up a big lead. Although Donovan (106) fought on well in the seventh he was unable to wrest control from Camp and in trying to do so the contest developed into a ding-dong affair despite both men tiring. After fighting for an hour and 30 minutes, and into the 23rd, Camp finally brought Donovan to his knees where was counted out. Camp challenged the world on winning but soon moved up in weight.
