1888-01-23 (120lbs) Ike Weir w co 7 (20) Tommy Miller, Washington Rink, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Referee: Frank Belye. Billed for the world 120lbs title and contested in two-ounce gloves, Weir (120) claimed the title by forfeit when Miller scaled 123lbs. At the end of the fifth round Miller was just about used up and in the sixth he dropped to his knees to avoid further punishment. Unable to avoid Weir’s lightning fast blows, Miller was driven against the ropes in the seventh before being knocked out by a terrific right uppercut.
