Held in the Metropolitan district, although it was not billed as an English title bout Hook (128) received some recognition at 128lbs following his win over Hopwood (126½). Hook got away better before he was pegged back by Hopwood, it being anybody’s fight right up to the 25th round when the former produced the winning punch. Both men finished badly marked up.
