1888-07-19 (136lbs) Ben Seth w rtd 7 (12) Bill Cheese, Paradise Street School of Arms, Lambeth, London, England. Referee: J. T. Hulls. Having earlier beaten Cheese (w pts 12 on 25 April 1887) at the same venue, this one, made at 136lbs, was also cut from endurance to 12 rounds because James Clarke’s Championship Belt was unavailable. However, Seth still claimed the English 136lbs title on his victory. Both men went well to head and body during the opening four rounds before Cheese weakened in the fifth as Seth got to work with no let up. Having been hurt to the body in the sixth, Cheese fell apart in the seventh and was retired by his corner when they realised he had no chance of winning.
