1888-11-23 (152lbs) Bill Chesterfield Goode w pts 12 Arthur Bobbett, Peter Street Grand Circus, Manchester, England. Referee: George Dunning. Billed for the English 152lbs middleweight title, both men got away well and it was even-steven before Bobbett (152) scored the opening knockdown in the fifth round when dropping Goode (150) with a left hander. In the next session it was Goode’s turn to floor his man, a terrific uppercut putting Bobbett on his knees, and in the eighth the latter was floored three times in all. Despite this, Bobbett was still in the fight, but Goode was drawing ahead and after flooring his opponent twice more in the 12th the decision in his favour was a formality.
Following little real activity at the weight somewhat surprisingly, on 3 February 1891, Arthur Akers challenged the world at 152lbs having recently won a championship competition at 158lbs.
