1888-12-26 (140lbs) Jack McAuliffe w co 9 (finish) Young Jacob Hyams, Palace Rink, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Dave Holland. Thought to be just another fight, in later years Hyams (139lbs), who was down 11 times before being knocked out, insisted that his MoQ Rules contest in six-ounce gloves against McAuliffe (135lbs) was for the world 140lbs title. Towards the end of the contest, with much excitement, a railing of the gallery broke, sending 25 persons to the ground, leaving several badly injured.
