2 May (110lbs) Billy Murray w co 39 (finish) Johnny Lyman, Long Island, New York, USA. Referee: Ed Palmer. Held in a barn on Long Island Sound and recognised as being for the American 110lbs title, it lasted two hours and 30 minutes according to the Sporting Life. The 18-year-old Lyman (105½), both eyes closed, was so badly punished by Murray (109¼) that he had to be carried from the ring after being counted out. Skin-tight gloves were the order of the day.
